i totally agree that detailed consultation needs to be done before any changes are made to the University Act
I strongly support the position taken by UPEI, Holland College and others who call for extensive consultation and caution before introducing legislation to allow new degree granting institutions in PE
The province has told us so little about a topic that is so complex and so important. A request for more time is a minima.

All of UPEI’s stakeholders have the right to be heard and it is the responsibility of the government to listen.
Whoa! Since when did the definition of a university change? Since when does a decision which carries so much potential to impact our whole province get such brief and non-public deliberation?
Over the past decade or more UPEI has expanded and enhanced its status as a "great small university" in a number of areas and at a challenging time for post-secondary education.
Having five or six degree granting institutions on the Island would add significantly to overhead costs and would reduce the budget and quality of all such institutions.
